He has worked with large international consultancies, including KPMG and EY, the latter with whom he was a regional healthcare leader reporting to the Global Head of Healthcare and Philips Healthcare, where he was the Vice President responsible for the international consulting, architecture, design and patient experience business where he developed insights and approaches to health system and facility design.
More recently, he ran the UK Department of Health and Social Care's response to COVID for the Education Sector, managed a review into the future of EPRs for a prominent NGO and reviewed data interoperability strategies for the English NHS. He has worked extensively internationally and has managed projects in Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa and Kenya.
Director - Real-world Evidence
Dr. Arun Keepanasseril MDS, MS (e-Health) is a unique health professional with more than 20 years of expertise in systems design, information management, implementation and research methods. He has worked with major health care providers in India and Canada, collaborating on projects that are implemented globally in more than 25 countries. Throughout his career, Arun has been involved in conceptualizing, implementing, and managing transformational research-oriented health information system projects. Arun is currently serving as the Research and Data Operations Lead at Health Information Research Unit at McMaster University, Canada. He is also the Project Manager for Canadian Bleeding Disorder Registry and an Assistant Professor (Part Time) in the department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact (HEI) at the University, Hamilton Ontario.
Transformational Innovation -
Arun has been at the forefront of several large scale transformation projects in health., Implemented across 23 Hemophilia Treatment Centers in Canada, CBDR is the national registry and specialized information system for bleeding disorders in Canada by bringing disparate legacy systems under a custom flexible framework. The registry and its research extension CBDR-R has created a unique research ecosystem encouraging prospective and retrospective real-world evidence generation as well as real time patient care. Arun is also involved as a core member of WAPPS-Hemo (Web accessible Population Pharmacokinetic Service in Hemophilia) a specialized web based population pharmacokinetic project implemented in more than 600 hospitals globally. Recently Arun served as consultant in Clinical Informatics at a large health system in India, delivering a transformational digital patient experience pathway that is being currently implemented.
Thought Influencer - In his academic avatar, Arun teaches in the Health Research Methods (HRM), Master of Science in eHealth and Master of Public Health (MPH) program at McMaster University. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on varied topics ranging from usability, health information systems, knowledge summaries and real world evidence.
